ABSTRACT:
A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Videotaped Instruction on Knowledge regarding Child CPR among Nursing Staff of Selected Oswal Aayush Hospital at Jamnagar. The objectives of the study to formulate planned teaching program regarding videotaped instruction on knowledge regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff. (c) To determine association between the pre -test and post test score with selected socio demographic variables. (d)To evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching program regarding videotaped instruction on knowledge regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff. The research approach selected for the study was Quantitative research approach and quasi-experimental research – one group pre-test post-test design. The study was conducted at selected hospital at Jamnagar. Total 40 samples were selected from selected hospital based on Simple random sampling technique. The researcher used structured questionnaire for data collection regarding demographic variables and pre-test. As a part of Videotaped Instruction on Knowledge Regarding Child CPR was carried out among Nursing Staff of Selected Hospital Jamnagar. The post-test score was measured with the same questionnaires after 7days. The collected data were analyzed by using inferential statistical method. t- test was used to evaluate the Evaluate the Effectiveness of Videotaped Instruction on Knowledge Regarding Child CPR Among Nursing Staff. It revealed that the mean score of pretests was 18 and posttest was 32. The Mean difference was 14. The obtained ‘t’ value 18.35. Hence it was highly significant p<0.05 level. Hence their findings of the study revealed that the Structured Teaching Programme was effective in improving knowledge regarding Child CPR.

INTRODUCTION:
Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is a series of steps used to establish artificial ventilation and circulation in the patient who is not breathing and has no pulse. Sudden death occurs when heartbeat and breathing stop suddenly or unexpectedly. The major role of Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is to provide oxygen to heart, brain and the other vital organ until medical treatment can restore normal heart action.
Over one million heart attacks happen every year and more than 20% of people die before ever reaching a hospital. Latest data shows that cardiac arrest ids becoming the number one cause of death. In fact, studies shows that 80% of all cardiac arrest happen at home which will most likely be a family members or friends. Each year, a number of persons suffer with an accident or illness, severe enough to stop their breathing an d leads to respiratory arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is a major cause of death in developed countries. Sudden death occurs when heart beat and breathing stop. cardiac arrest account for 25 to 30 percent of all case of sudden death in the pediatric population.1
Child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is a procedure to support and maintain breathing and circulation for an infant, child, or adolescent who has stopped breathing due to respiratory arrest and whose heart has stopped (cardiac arrest). Child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is a part of emergency care system to save lives. Many deaths can be prevented by promote recognition of cardio pulmonary arrest and respiratory arrest and notification of the emergency medical system (EMS), followed by early child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation, defibrillator and cardiac life support measures. Pediatric child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation stands for CPR. It is a lifesaving procedure that is don when a child breathing and heart beat has stopped. this may happen after drowning, suffocation, chocking, excessive bleeding, poisoning, or an injury.2
NEED FOR THE STUDY:
In India the annual incidence of sudden cardiac death account for 0.55 per 1000 population. The survival rate of a sudden cardiac arrest is almost less than 1%. Sudden cardiac constitution 40-50% of cardiovascular deaths and out of this almost 80% are due to heart arrhythmia disturbance or arrhythmia. Minimum arrests where because of cardiac respiratory arrest. Cardio pulmonary resuscitation competency is considered a fundamental skill for health care workers. In the wider community, it is an expectation that knowledge and competence in Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is at a high standard in nursing education. Participation in both successful and unsuccessful Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is one of the most stressful situations that the nursing staff have to deal with. A thorough knowledge and competency (skill) help them to perform Cardio pulmonary resuscitation to the patients whenever is needed.
We might remember ABCs airway, breathing, chest compression. first open the airway and try to resuscitate the victim by giving quick breaths through mouth. Then mouth on to pumping the chest to get the heart beating again. But now the American health association (AHA) is officially changing the order of Cardio pulmonary resuscitation, and urging rescuers to start with chest compression first now it is CAB. Many nursing staff are not aware about American heart association guideline of Cardio pulmonary resuscitation.3
Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is the fundamental technique for the emergency treatment of cardiac arrest. the standardized training of Cardio pulmonary resuscitation has been emphasized more than ever. Cardio pulmonary resuscitation training is mandatory for nursing staff. Available literature suggests a need for both initial Cardio pulmonary resuscitation training nursing staff to approve the knowledge of competency in Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is having at most significance. It is because in future they are one who is assessing and providing the needed care for the patient at the earlier stage. A study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of knowledge on child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff. It’s very important for nursing staff to have thorough knowledge about Cardio pulmonary resuscitation because in future they may come across certain cases where Cardio pulmonary resuscitation should be done with high level of professional competence. During the clinical experience period the investigator had exposed to many Cardio pulmonary resuscitation indicated pediatric cases, where nursing personnel is having to act properly. They need to have adequate knowledge about pediatric Cardio pulmonary resuscitation.4
OBJECTIVES:
1. To evaluate the effectiveness of videotaped instruction on knowledge regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff.
2. To formulate planned teaching program regarding videotaped instruction on knowledge regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff.
3. To determine association between the pre -test and post test score with selected socio demographic variables.
4. To evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching program regarding videotaped instruction on knowledge regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff.
HYPOTHESES:
H1: The mean post test score will be higher than the mean pretest score of knowledge Regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
H2: There will be significant association between the selected demographic variables and pretest level of knowledge Regarding child Cardio pulmonary resuscitation.

· There are 34(56.67%) sample of Female group and 26(43.33%) sample are male group.
· Their Majority 40.00% of Nursing staff have B.Sc. Nursing, (36.67%) of Nursing Staff have GNM, 23.33% of Nursing staff have P.B.B.S.
· There are Majority (53.33%) of nursing staff are Hindus, 16.67% were Muslims, 26.67% were Christians and 3.33% others.
CONCLUSION:
The main conclusion from this present study that was the overall findings of the study clearly showed that there is lack of knowledge regarding child cardio pulmonary resuscitation among nursing staff and the results revealed that The Videotaped Instruction of on child cardio pulmonary resuscitation will be helpful for the nursing staff to gain knowledge.
